S4A Vocational Training Institute

ASCET Uganda entered into a partnership with Van Doorn Foundation in The Netherlands assisting with the establishment of Skills for All (S4A) Vocational Training Institute and with Gered Gereedschap Foundation also in The Netherland providing the necessary training equipment and tools for this vocational training centre. The vocational training centre is under establishment, a school business plan was drafted, a shipment of training equipment and tools (from Gered Gereedschap) is expected before the end of 2018 and the vocational training centre scheduled to become operational by 2019.

S4A vocational training institute will enable youth gain employment and uplift themselves and their communities. To start in 2019 with 200 students in carpentry, tailoring and welding, the institute will offer courses from six-months to one year hands-on practical skills that prepare young people to earn a living. This new focus was inspired by the feedback from youth themselves who see vocational skills development as something to change their lives for the better.
