We-Live Project

We-Live Project description

Recognizing that, a limited economic opportunity is both a major cause and an effect of the two-decade LRA insurgency in northern Uganda; Women’s Livelihood Improvement (WeLive) Project has been designed to contribute towards improving the economic opportunities and food and nutrition security of 1,200 women in Alebtong District in northern Uganda.

WeLive project is being implemented by ACSET Uganda in partnership with GetOn Foundation. The project will therefore address: 1) lack of income generating activities by promoting small business and income generating activities among women, 2) lack of access to finances to support women’s business by promoting village savings and loan associations – VSLA where women can access micro-credits to boost their small business, 3) lack of nutritious food for the households by promoting vegetable production among women households by using kitchen garden approach.

Particularly, this project will enable the targeted households and people to attain sustained food and nutrition security, and realise increased household income – thereby becoming increasingly self-reliant.
Goal: The goal of We-Live project is to improve on food and nutrition security and economic resilience of 1,200 women especially caregivers of orphans and other vulnerable children (OVC) and single mothers in Alebtong District by 2020
Outcome 1. Increased income of 1,200 women by 50% by 2020
